The Illustrators | 2020

There is a troupe, of a madman who scribbles writings on the walls; scientific diagrams, ritualistic symbols, words repeated over and over, lines counting down the days of confinement. The notion of decorating an isolated space in such a chaotic, ritualistic manner inspired this mini-series, created during the first UK lockdown amidst the 2020 pandemic. Here my housemates and I become the madman, and share with you our writings on the walls; everything we created during isolation. It was important for me to document our processes; early sketches, dusted flower arrangements and draft scribbles alike. For in a year destined for the history books, it is my belief that the artists of 2020 shall become its Illustrators.

This series was later featured on Sky Arts' 2020 RANKIN amongst many other works of amateurs and professionals alike, as we worked to represent our year in imagery. You can purchase a copy of the collective book that followed, here, with profits going to Mental Health UK.
